Still Jogja Style despite Inspiration from Abroad

The JavaJazz Event 2007 became the starting point of Ubaidillah Achmad, as in there he expressed an intention to build serious relationship with Gusti Raden Ajeng (GRAj) Nurastuti Wijareni. Unexpectedly, the intention comes true after both of them have been agreed to get married at October 16-18, 2011.

Some preparation of Royal Wedding has been made long before the event. One of the preparations is giving title to the Princess from Gusti Raden Ajeng (GRAj) Nurastuti Wijareni to Gusti Kanjeng Ratu (GKR) Bendara and Achmad Ubaidillah be Kanjeng Pangeran Harya (KPH) Yudanegara.

In addition to giving title, other preparations before Royal Wedding is arranging carnival event or Kirab of the bridal couple. The carnival parade procession is basically imitated from the past, specifically in the reign of Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono VII (HB VII), which the carnival started from Keben toward Kepatihan.  At this time, the bridal couple will also be paraded from Keben (Ngayogyakarta Palace) towards Kepatihan (Governor Office of Yogyakarta) where will be held the wedding reception.

GKR Bendara stated at the official residence of GKR Hemas, 19 St. Denpasar, Kuningan, Jakarta, Thursday (28/7) that beside imitating the tradition in the reign of Sultan HB VII, the event also gets inspiration from the Royal Wedding between Prince William and Kate Middletone of United Kingdom. The combination of both marriages have similarity at the carnival parade event. But there is little different though.

The difference lies in the way of the procession, especially at the reign of Sultan HB IV which the procession using bridal stretcher, but the procession which will be held on October 16-18, 2011, will be using Kyai Jongwiyat Cart pulled by horses without driver but guided and accompanied by some soldiers of Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Palace. The concept of using a horse-drawn carriage is an acknowledged inspiration from the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.  

The culture and populist concept

The Royal wedding of Princess GKR Bendara and KPH Yudhanegara has the concept of culture, tourism, and populist. The concept of culture is displayed by various typical dances of Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Palace during the reception. As for tourism, both families have been coordinating with various hotels for accommodation of guests and promoting this cultural event abroad due to GKR Bendara took a degree in tourism, hospitality, and management in Switzerland.

In addition to the concept of culture and tourism, it also conceptualized populist. Populist concept is prepared by providing the greatert opportunity to 1,500 guests and public to witness the procession of marriage until the setting up of the big screen in around city of Jogjakarta. That is to say, the concept of marriage is the party of the people of Jogjakarta.

In fact, according to Princess GKR Bendara and KPH Yudhanegara, their wedding also drafted to improve the economy of the people of Yogyakarta. The way it does is to make the concept of “Made in Jogjakarta” by ordering entire paraphernalia wedding, from invitations, souvenirs, until the wedding dress from the craftsmen and designers of Jogjakarta.
