Ngayogyakarta Sultanate has eight paintings by the famous painter, Raden Saleh. The paintings are well displayed in special room, measuring 3 x 5 meters in Kesatriyan complex. The paintings are:
The painting depicts Sultan Hamengku Buwono IV on the white horse, wearing Dutch noble clothes combined with Ngayogyakarta Palace identity, namely Kopiah (songkok).
2. Portrait of Sultan Hamengku Buwono V
The painting depicts Sultan Hamengku Buwono V seats in a chair in white background wearing sikepan with gold thread embroidery, wearing cloth with parang motif and wearing a kuluk (tengkuluk).
This is the greatest work of Raden Saleh as Ngayogyakarta Sultanate’s collection. This painting’s size is 2.5 x 1.9 meters, displayed with a buffer such as buffer board in the past. Sultan Hamengku Buwono VI was painted in a standing position with a full dress with the Dutch style combined with blangkon (a traditional Javanese headdress) as the Ngayogyakarta Sultanate Palace style.
This painting Portrait of Gusti Kanjeng Ratu Hageng (queen-consort of Sultan Hamengku Buwono VI) was made in 1868.
Gusti Kanjeng Ratu Hamengku Buwono is garwa padmi (concubine) of Sultan Hamengkubuwono VI. The poainting depicts Gusti Kanjeng Ratu Hamengku Buwono seating on the chair.
The painting depicts Sultan Hamengku Buwono VII when still a child, alongside with Gusti Kanjeng Ratu Hageng. It shows Sultan Hamengku Buwono VII wearing a kampuh cloth (seam) in green background, bare-chested, with simple accessories.
The painting illustrates the Sultan in a standing position with military clothing, wearing black cap (kopiah).
Gustavo Putro is Prince of Sultan Ngayogyakarta who ascended the next throne became Sultan Hamengkubuwono VIII. The painting depicts Gustavo Putro wearing Dutch military uniform, a long blue coat with white trousers and black shoes. And a greatness hat is placed on a small table, near the tip of his right hand.
